As this part of the country continues the long process of drying out after the big storm, we turn to our sports to keep us going. Unless you’re a fan of a team that leads all day and then gives up a game-winning field goal to the other team, but that’s just one person’s opinion. There are several intriguing matchups this week, so let’s pull out the ol’ crystal ball.
Texas A&M at ‘Bama – I’ve been studying the Tide schedule. I can’t find anyone that can beat them. I’m going to up-chuck. Guess I’ll have to depend on UGA to do it in the SEC title game. As good as Jimbo is, he’s not gonna pull it off with A&M either. The Evil Empire 38, Aggies 10
Kent State at Misipi – A chance to heal some very deep wounds. Misipi 45, Golden Flashes 7
Florida at Tennessee – I think the Kentucky game was an aberration. Pruitt has a ways to go to build things in Knoxville. Lizards 27, Rocky Bottom 13
South Carolina at Vanderbilt – I think not being able to play a game last week is going to hurt SC. Vandy still isn’t that great, but more solid than in recent years. Upset special. Vandy 20, Fightin’ Chickens 17
Louisiana Tech at LSU – Another one of the hordes of second-level Louisiana schools getting a paycheck. LSU 42, Which Louisiana School Is it Anyway 7
Misipi State at Kentucky – I think the bluegrass kids are going to crash. And hard. Jerry Clower U 28, Briers 13
Georgia at Missouri – Missouri is pretty good. They are NOT this good. Nobody is except that evil team. Big Ol’ Hairy Dawgs 44, Mizzou 23
Ar-Kansas at Auburn – See Kent State at Misipi above. WAR EAGLE 51, Pigs 24
Charlotte at UMass – The Minutemen have lost their last 3 games by a combined score of 152-58, to Boston College, Georgia Southern and Florida International. The only thing propping up their team stats is a 63-15 season-opening win over FCS Duquesne. The CBS Sports ranking of all 129 FBS teams has UMass at 116 and Charlotte at 113. Last week, we were 119 and Old Dominion was 123. So, for the second week in a row, I say that if we lose this game, Brad Lambert should be fired, and not allowed into the locker room after the game. And for the second week in a row, I don’t think he has a thing to worry about. 49ers 33, UMass 27
Last week’s record: 10-2
Season: 36-4
